An Open Letter to Sylvia Browne

I invite Sylvia Browne - and her ministers - to supply some evidence.

The 'Dear Sylvia' column in the Sylvia Browne Newsletter

The "Dear Sylvia" column in the Sylvia Browne Newsletter

Background

I have frequently been asked if I have ever asked Browne herself for evidence of her "abilities."

The answer, up until now, has been "no," so I decided that I would send her an email doing just that.

Letter to Sylvia Browne

I do not have Browne's email address, and in fact, a page on the Novus Spiritus web site says the following:

NOTE: Sylvia does not read emails. The only way to speak to Sylvia is by booking an appointment.

Rather than booking an appointment, I sent the following email to Linda Rossi (Browne's business manager) and Reverend Michael McClellan (one of three Prelates in Browne's church):

Subject: An Open Letter to Sylvia Browne
From: webmaster@stopsylviabrowne.com
Date: Tue, Nov 27, 2007 3:17 pm
To: Linda Rossi <[email address]>
Cc: Michael McClellan <[email address]>

Ms. Rossi & Rev. McClellan:

Below please find an open letter to Sylvia Browne. Since I am not aware of her email address, I am requesting that you forward a copy to her.

Thanks you,

-RSL

Sylvia Browne:

As you may know, there are many articles on my web site which examine readings you have done on the Montel Williams Show regarding missing person and homicide cases.

Of the more than fifty such readings which I and others have researched, we have only found around fifteen where the cases were later solved, and so the readings could be analyzed for accuracy. Of those fifteen readings, there was not a single one in which the outcome of the case showed your reading to be correct, or even mostly correct. Not one.

In many of the articles I have written regarding these readings (such as the reading you performed for the parents of Shawn Hornbeck), I have extended an invitation for anyone to send me examples of your documented successes in such readings (so far, I have received none).

However, it has been brought to my attention that I have never extended such an invitation to you personally. This email is intended to remedy that situation. Here then is that invitation:

If there are any missing person/homicide cases for which you have performed a reading on the Montel Williams Show, and for which the case was later solved, showing the reading to be largely correct, please send me whatever information you can regarding the readings. I will gladly research them and write them up for my web site.

I have read where you state that your office staff keeps careful track of your “accuracy rate,” so I am hoping that if there are any such readings, they would know of them. If so, I hope you will ask them to share that information with me, and thus with readers of my site.

A copy of this letter will be published on my web site.

PS: If you do not trust me to accurately reflect whatever information you might have, perhaps you could have the webmaster of the Go Sylvia Browne web site publish it there for all to see.

Letter to Novus Ministers

Thinking that perhaps some of Browne's ministers might be aware of a successful reading, I also sent the following email to a list of ministers and ministers-in-training for Browne's Novus Spiritus church, as well as to some coordinators of study groups (where Browne's writings are read and discussed):

Subject: Sylvia Browne's Missing Person & Homicide Readings
From: [email address]
Date: Wed, Nov 28, 2007 12:17 am
To: List of Novus Ministers

Novus Spiritus Minister, Minister-in-Training or Study Group Coordinator:

Hello, my name is Robert Lancaster. I am the creator and webmaster of www.StopSylviaBrowne.com, a web site which is highly skeptical of Sylvia Browne and her claims to "psychic powers."

One topic I have written about on my web site over the past year is Sylvia Browne's readings on the Montel Williams Show regarding missing person and homicide cases. I have primarily written about those readings for cases which were later solved - allowing me to compare Browne's reading with what actually was found to have happened.

So far, in every single one of these cases which I (and those helping me) have researched, Browne's reading was substantially - if not totally - incorrect. Around fifteen such cases are now documented in articles on my site.

For most of the past year I have been inviting people to send me examples of such cases which Browne has gotten substantially correct, but so far, I have received none.

I am hoping you will know of such a reading, and can tell me about it.

It needs to be a reading which:

1. Was shown on the Montel Williams Show.
2. Was regarding a missing or murdered person.
3. Was later solved, showing Browne to be mostly correct.

You do not have to research the case yourself if you do not care to. Just provide me with whatever details you may recall about it, such as the name of the missing/murdered person, the nature of the case, the approximate date it was broadcast, etc. I will then research it and write it up for the site.

Please know that all email I receive from you will be held in strict confidence, and that I will not publish any email you send to me on the site without your prior express permission.

(Please note, if you do not want to receive any more emails from me, simply reply telling me so, and you will be removed from this mailing list.)

Thank you for your time,

Robert S. Lancaster
Webmaster,

Conclusion

If Browne or any of her ministers send me information regarding a missing person or homicide case in which Browne's reading was proven to be largely correct, I will write it up for this site, and will update this article to reflect it.

I have looked (and asked) for such an example for a year now, with no success. I will be interested to see if any of these people can find one.
