Open Letter to Montel Williams: An Answer?Three months ago, a fellow retired military officer asked Montel Williams a very serious question. This is what he received in return.
Montel Williams' "response." BackgroundOn February 6 2007, Lt. Colonel Hal Bidlack (Ret) mailed a letter to Montel Williams, asking him some serious questions regarding Williams' continued support of Sylvia Browne. That same day, a copy of that letter was placed on this site, in the article "An Open Letter to Lt. Commander Montel Williams". I found the letter to be heartfelt and moving, and definitely deserving of a reply from Williams. Since that letter went up on the site, I have received numerous emails asking if Bidlack had ever received a response from Williams. Yesterday, April 29 2007, more than three months after the letter was sent to Williams, Lt. Colonel Bidlack received a response. The Response
Montel Williams' "Response" (Back). The response was a generic form-letter postcard which looks as though it is automatically sent to anyone who sends any mail to Williams. It reads:
The InterviewWilliams was a phone-in guest on the Mar 25 2007 broadcast of "The Junkies," a radio show originating on Free FM 106.7 in Washington, D.C.. I think it has some bearing on the topic. In "segment 8" of the show ("Montel Williams Calls In"), the hosts introduce Williams, and after speaking to him for a few minutes regarding an upcoming episode of his show, the subject of Sylvia Browne comes up: Here is a transcript of a portion of that interview (emphasis mine): NOTE: There are multiple hosts to the show, and I was unable to discern if it was only one asking the questions, or if more than one was involved.
He doesn't believe in psychics, yet he has her on the show because he thinks she has "more intuition" than most people? Just how would someone "intuit" the fact that a woman in Williams' audience will marry in three years, and what her future spouse's name will be? Or that the woman's "spirit guide's" name is Alfredo? Or that the woman will have three children, one of whom will be a miscarriage? In my opinion, these things, and much of the other "readings" which Browne gives on the show are either received through psychic means, or they are simply made up. And Williams evidently does not believe in psychics. Back to the interview:
I wonder just how "funny" Browne is to the families of the missing - families who come on to Williams' show and are subjected to Browne's "hysterical" nonsense. Does Williams think that Opal Jo Jennings' grandmother was amused? Or Lynda McClelland's daughters? No, there's nothing even remotely amusing about what Browne puts these families through. The interview continues:
At this point, the interview moves on to other topics. AnalysisMontel Williams does not believe in psychics. And he is an educated man, so he must know that much of what Browne says on his show could not be accounted for by "intuition." So, why does he continue to have her on the show? In an article in the Oct 30, 2002 edition of the New York Beacon (Vol.9, Iss. 43; pg. 19), Williams gives us what I think is an indication:
ConclusionI think it is pathetic and inexcusable that more than three months after sending his open letter to Williams, Lt Colonel Bidlack has nothing to show for it but a generic form-letter postcard. However, Bidlack's main question in his letter was this:
I can't help but think that, in the radio interview above, Williams has already supplied the answer. Related LinksClicking on any of these links will load a separate browser window for viewing the linked page. StopSylviaBrowne.com is not responsible for the content of any of these linked pages.
