| Email: "Thank You" From a Soccer MomA woman decides that Sylvia Browne is "a fake" after reading this site.
BackgroundI am frequently asked by people who follow this site whether I believe that the site is really making a difference. One of the several ways I know that the site is definitely having an impact is through the emails I receive almost daily from people who tell me that the site has helped them to make up their minds about Browne. These emails are always very satisfying to me, as they show me that the site is doing its job: giving people information about Sylvia Browne, from which they can come to their own conclusion. In this article I will share some correspondence from one such person. The EmailHere, with the author's permission, is that email: (Note: I have added paragraph breaks for clarity.)
AnalysisI think that this email is a good example of how circumstances can lead someone to a vulnerable place in their life where they turn to someone like Sylvia Browne for help. What they get instead is a lighter wallet, which in turn can put them in even worse circumstances. Browne relies on this sort of desperation. She thrives on it. A couple of weeks later, I received this follow-up email:
ConclusionI'm not much of one for burning books, but I have to say that the sentence "they kinda stunk up my house but not near as much as her influnce stunk up my life" makes me smile every time I think of it. My thanks to the person who sent the email, both for sending it, and for allowing me to publish it here. |
